What we do
Varsity Bound Rowing provides a complete, personalized pathway from junior rower to varsity athlete. We serve aspiring high school athletes (ages 15–19) who are serious about their ambitions — whether they are already competing at a high level or are serious about transitioning to rowing from their current sport.
Our four service pillars work together as a system. An athlete does not just get faster — they arrive at the recruitment process as a complete, compelling candidate.
Ready to take the next step toward varsity rowing and scholarship opportunities?
An Approach Built on Four Pillars
Who we work with
We work with high school rowers who aspire to compete at the collegiate level and pursue scholarship opportunities. We also support athletes transitioning into rowing from other sports who are looking for a clear pathway forward.
Our Philosophy for Younger Athletes:
We believe the best rowers are first well-rounded athletes. For younger athletes, we encourage multi-sport participation and long-term athletic development before specializing in rowing.
Why it works
-
Work one-on-one with founder and coach Zak Lewis throughout your journey.
-
Every training and recruitment plan is tailored to the individual athlete.
-
Navigate the collegiate recruiting process with confidence and clarity.
-
More than $2 million in scholarships facilitated for VBR athletes.
“At the core of our coaching philosophy lies a profound belief in every athlete’s potential — not only in their athletic endeavours but also in the broader spectrum of life.”
Varsity Bound Guarantee:
We Only Win When You Win
Varsity Bound Rowing is built on a proven coaching methodology and a commitment to athlete development. If an athlete fully commits to the programme and does not see measurable improvement, we will provide a full refund.
Direct access to Coach Zak, always. We accept a small number of athletes at a time so that every one of them gets the attention they deserve — no junior coaches, no automated plans, no waiting days for a reply.
Built for your athlete specifically. There are no templates here. Every training plan, nutrition guide, and recruitment strategy is built from scratch for the individual in front of us — their body, their schedule, their goals.
Results or your money back. Commit to the programme, do the work, and see improvement — or we refund you in full. No awkward conversations, no conditions, no fine print. Just accountability.
The 12-Week Biological Rule
Elite athletic development cannot be rushed; it must be engineered. True physiological adjustments, cardiovascular development, and measurable power adaptations require a minimum of 12 weeks to take root at a cellular level. Because we focus exclusively on sustainable, varsity-caliber results, all performance tracks require a 3-month minimum commitment.
